Throughout December, the French Quarter‘s historic St. Louis Cathedral will be hosting its Christmas New Orleans Style concert series. Planned for both weekdays and weekends, each presentation will begin at 6 p.m., and last approximately one hour. Admission is free; however, attendees are welcome to make a contribution for the upkeep of the church building and grounds.
The scheduled artists represent a range of genres, and are known for both local and more widespread notoriety. Upcoming concerts include, but are not limited to The Roots of Music (December 9th), Amanda Shaw (December 15th), Jeremy Davenport (December 18th), and the official St. Louis Cathedral Choir Christmas Concert (December 22nd at 5:30 p.m.).
As one of New Orleans’ most recognized landmarks, the site of St. Louis Cathedral has been central to the local community since 1727. In addition to traditional Mass services, the building is home to regularly-scheduled public concerts, as well as weddings and other private events. St. Louis Cathedral was also the location of Pope John Paul II’s historic 1987 visit.
To enjoy beautiful holiday music in a breathtaking setting, consider attending one of this year’s concert events.
