Case Foundation Launches 5 Giving Tuesdays In Partnership With CrowdRise, Network For Good And Six Degrees

giving tuesdayBuilding off of the momentum from the Thanksgiving holiday, #GivingTuesday is a national movement to add a day of charity and doing good to the lineup of national shopping days Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. In its second year, #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of charities, online social media, businesses and individuals to transform how people think about and participate in the giving season.

case foundationThis holiday season, The Case Foundation and its partners are celebrating the act of giving with $100,000 in grants and prizes ($90,000 in grants for nonprofits and $10,000 in prizes for individuals).  The Case Foundation, CrowdRise, Network for Good and SixDegrees.org (a charitable initiative started by Actor and Musician Kevin Bacon) will partner once again for a one-day matching grant challenge to celebrate the second annual #GivingTuesday.

DONATE TO YOUR FAVORITE NONPROFIT

This #GivingTuesday, join us at www.crowdrise.com/givingtuesday2013 to donate to your favorite nonprofit. Prizes for nonprofits include $25,000 of matching grants for the first $25,000 donated on #GivingTuesday, a $10,000 bonus grant for the top fundraising nonprofit campaign, and a Race to 20 Donors – the first five campaigns to recruit 20 donors will each receive $1,000 bonus grants! Show your support and make your donation go even farther this #GivingTuesday as we kick off the season of giving.

INCORPORATE GIVING INTO YOUR HOLIDAY SEASON

And the giving keeps going all month long with 5 Giving Tuesdays, a five-week campaign aimed at inspiring and recognizing people to “give” all season long. Every Tuesday in December, starting December 3rd through January 6th, they will spotlight one of five creative ways to give back and help others through exclusive content from partners and great prizes. Go to The Case Foundation’s Facebook page and tell them how you’ll give back this holiday season and be entered to win great prizes all season long.  You can enter each week until January 6 for your chance to win new prizes each week including Amazon gift cards, Timex Fitness Watches, Shop for a Cause products from Tory Burch, EcoVessel water bottles and more. And one grand prize winner will receive $1,000!

The themes for the 5 weeks are as follows:

  • December 3: Giving a Donation (to your favorite nonprofit)
  • December 10: Giving Your Time (service and volunteering)
  • December 17: Giving Presents that Give Back (encourage purchase of gifts that give back where a portion of proceeds goes to a nonprofit – think TOMS, Tory Burch Foundation, or Eco Vessel)
  • December 24: Giving the Gift of Warmth (encourage donation of coats, gloves, etc.)
  • December 31: Giving a Resolutions to Do Good (“donate” a new year’s resolution to do good in 2014)

Steve and Jean Case established The Case Foundation in 1997 to reflect their commitment to giving back. They have successfully leveraged investment capital, broad network of passionate people, and their experience to accomplish a simple mission: invest in people and ideas that can change the world. For those who aren’t familiar, Mr. and Mrs. Case have been involved in the Internet industry since the early 1980s, and were part of building AOL into the leading online brand of the 1990s. Naturally, since launching the Case Foundation, they have consistently sought to tap the power of the Internet and technology to transform the social sector.

The Case Foundation has led a series of innovative and collaborative initiatives that aim to leverage new technologies to empower and engage citizens in the U.S. and around the globe. Through partnerships with hundreds of nonprofits, private sector and corporate partners, as well as the public sector, these efforts have helped to expand the role of individuals in philanthropy and in giving back to their communities.

I hope that you will save the date for #GivingTuesday and start a new tradition for your family by incorporating giving into your holiday season if you don’t already do so.

– Miss A
