Get in the festive spirit at the eighth annual Santa Ride – one of Atkins Park founder Warren Bruno’s favorite events. The eight mile ride includes various stops along the route for some holiday cheer. Along with a helmet and mandatory front and rear bike lights, Santa hats, elf costumes, holiday lights and jingle bells are all strongly encouraged. Those getting decked out can also enter the costume contest, a new addition to the Santa Ride tradition. Once the ride is finished, participants and non-participants are all welcome to stay for dinner or drinks to cap off the evening. Unfortunately, Santa is not picking up the tab, so guests are responsible for their own food and drink. In case of inclement weather, Atkins Park will post an announcement on Facebook the day of the event by 3 p.m.

Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar is recognized as Atlanta’s oldest continuously licensed tavern. The neighborhood restaurant is the perfect spot to bring the family, enjoy weekend brunch, or stop by for late-night drinks. This fundraiser for the 2014 Race Across America Georgia Chain Gang benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This is a team of eight riders who will compete in the Race Across America, starting on June 14, 2014, riding around the clock for 3000 miles from Oceanside CA to Annapolis MD to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. They are racing in remembrance of their friend, hero and beloved “Crew Daddy” Warren Bruno, founder of Atkins Park, who passed away on May 16th, 2012, after a long fight with Lymphoma.

The gang rides for all those affected by blood cancers and you can support their cause by helping raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in training and making a donation here. The crew is made up entirely of people who are dedicated to the LLS cause. Some of them have lost family members, some are survivors themselves and some are battling their cancer right now. They are all united in their commitment to finding a cure for these blood cancers and contributing to the long run defeat of cancers of all kinds.
