Yakima, Wash. based Debbie Hunter, has been creating beautiful jewelry pieces for over 25 years. She owned her own bead shop and taught classes for over 9 years. The week after her husband of 28 years, Chris Hunter, turned 46 years old, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. At the time of his diagnosis, Chris and Debbie had 2 kids in college, and one who was a freshman in High School. The diagnosis at such an early age was not something the family was prepared for. Chris declined at a very fast rate and within two years he had forgotten his children, his wife, and his home. At the age of 48 the family had to make the extremely hard decision to place Chris in a Full Care Facility that specializes in advanced Alzheimer’s care. Chris is now living his own worst nightmare. He can no longer walk, talk, feed himself, use a bathroom, or recognize his own family. The family has since pulled together to focus on a fight for a cure and help bring awareness about this disease. To help raise money and awareness, Debbie decided to create jewelry pieces that benefited the Alzheimer’s Association. These pieces will be a perfect gift for the holidays and you can feel good knowing that 100% of the proceeds go to a very worthy cause that helps real families. Quilted purple ornaments emblazoned with the word “HOPE” are available for $16. For $40, you can purchase a sterling and copper Chaos Pendant. An exquisitely made sterling and Cubic Zirconium’s necklace is available for $230.
Prices range from $15 to $230.
Jennifer Jedda created JJ Caprices to showcase extraordinary creations that she has discovered during her many travels around the globe. She chooses each piece with the hopes that it will enchant and inspire. Her website includes the tales about the artists, the countries, or how she may have stumbled upon an object in a Bhutanese or Parisian market, giving each item a heartbeat and share the uniqueness of the place it comes from and its creator. Her collection will be a one of a kind gift for the holidays! For $32, designed in France, screen printed in India and hand rolled edges, the Silk Market Organization of India approved 100% pink silk scarf combines the talent and skill of Jennifer’s favorite countries. For $158, an intricately designed red crochet and flower bracelet from Paris combines Swarovski crystal, glass, cotton and sterling silver to create a delicate crocheted dentelle wrap for the wrist. For $245, the Desert Secrets Necklace by AMARO was made in Jerusalem and will add a sense of magic and mystery to any outfit. JJ Caprices collection can be found here.
