Gucci hosted a private cocktail party last week at the House’s Atlanta store to celebrate the “Handbag Artisan Corner”. The exclusive event brought the craftsmanship of Gucci’s Florentine leather goods factory directly to its clientele, allowing guests to view skilled artisans assembling some of the House’s most iconic handbags. Susan Been, Kim Lape, Kelly Loeffler, and Millie Smith co-hosted the evening, which benefited Make-A-Wish Georgia. Ten percent of the proceeds from the event benefited the organization to support its efforts in granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
As guests interacted with artisans assembling the House’s signature New Bamboo, New Jackie, Soft Stirrup and Soho bags, they sipped on fine wines and enjoyed mouth watering treats from Dennis Dean, A Catering Company. Shoppers took advantage of the hand-crafted products in exotic skins and exclusive colors that were personalized with hand-embossed monogramming, if they desired. The Artisan Corner display included custom work tables, a sewing machine, a leather stand, and metal tools, as well as additional background materials which illustrated the evolution of the products, from mood board to sketches.
Since 1995, Make-A-Wish Georgia has been granting the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Having recently granted its 6,000th wish in Georgia, the organization is one of the top tier chapters within the national Make-A-Wish Network. Though the chapter aims to grant 430 wishes this fiscal year, there remain hundreds of children in the local community awaiting their most heartfelt wish experience.
