Images of India Cultural Showcase In San Francisco To Benefit ASHA for Education

In 1991, ASHA for Education was founded in Berkeley, and since then it has dedicated itself to supporting the basic education of children in India who lack access and resources related to education. Since its creation, ASHA has branched out, developing chapters all over the nation as well as in other nations.

The Berkeley chapter is comprised mostly of UC Berkeley students and locals working Berkeley. Together the chapter works to raise awareness among the student body and the Berkeley and Bay Area community about their numerous projects in India and why they are so important. The chapter sends students to visit project sites every summer to ensure that they are running smoothly and effectively and to interact with the children they are supporting. They also host several events individual events in Berkeley as well as events in conjunction with the Stanford and Silicon Valley chapters in the Bay Area to raise money for their projects.

One of ASHA Berkeley’s biggest fundraising events is its Images of India showcase, which takes place every fall and draws hundreds of audience members.
