Venessa Lynn is a proud California transplant, chasing the sun and sand all the way from Toronto, Canada 9 years ago. Growing up as a professionally trained dancer, Venessa has had the opportunity to perform and compete across the globe. At 18 Venessa was crowned Miss Universe Canada 2004 and was honored to represent her country at the Miss Universe Pageant in Quito, Ecuador. Throughout her reign Venessa performed a province wide speaking tour to elementary school children encouraging them to reach for their dreams at any age. Venessa worked closely with several charities and has always believed in using her title to inspire and help others.

Since living in sunny California, Venessa has pursued her professional career interning for major companies including MTV Networks, The Dr. Phil Show and TrendHunter Magazine. Her studies have taken her from Santa Barbara, to LA, to finally receiving her BA in Communications from San Diego State University.

Since graduation this adventure seeker has split her time between San Diego and Las Vegas, working in entertainment and nightlife for the strips most luxurious properties. Venessa has strut her stuff as a Pussycat Doll dancer, and as a Showgirl in the Fercos Brother: Untamed Illusions Show touring Central America.

Since settling in San Diego, Venessa’s passion for health and fitness has flourished. She is constantly scouring the net for new pilates and fitness studios, and is always up for trying the latest Groupon deals. With her extensive dance background she is currently pursing certification in Barre Fitness, bringing her back to her ballerina roots in the studio.

Venessa enjoys spending time with her husband, hitting up the best happy hours, catching a Padres Game in her backyard, and lounging out on a paddleboard in the bay. She has an eye for fashion and a secret obsession for Pinterest (Not too hard to figure out!). She dreams of travel, kills for sky-high booties, and has no self-control when it comes to online shopping. A true fashionista and foodie at heart, she eats up everything California culture has to offer.

San Diego Restaurants Feature Fall Menus That Give Back

San Diego hotspots Davanti Enoteca and Mia Francesca are getting crafty with a seasonal menu of delicious fall flavors to enjoy. Known for their unique tastes and attention to detail, the Francesca Restaurant Group brings their impressive take on hospitality all the way from Chicago. Opening their doors in only 2011, owners Dana & Scott Harris share their love of San Diego by giving back to the community and getting involved in charitable efforts around the city.

Participants in the Chef Showdown 2013 to fight Domestic Violence, the Dollar-A-Dish program to support the San Diego Food Bank, and supporters of Rock The Cure, a concert benefiting people with Type 1 Diabetes are only a few of their tremendous charitable efforts. In fact, they are giving back right from their own table with the Eat & Earn Dinner Program available at Italian eatery, Mia Francesca. Local schools and non-profit organizations are invited to host a fundraiser at the location and the restaurant will donate 15 percent of the dinner bill back to the school or non-profit as a cash donation.

With our version of fall here in sunny San Diego, chefs Darrell Campbell of Davanti, and Ulises “Woody” Benitez of Mia Francesca, are creating inspiring dishes with all of our favorite flavors of the season. Feeling as if you are sitting in a small village in Italy, guests at Davanti Enoteca can indulge in a main course of Seared Scallop, Pork Belly, Spaghetti Squash and Pear, while sipping on the Davanti Scotch Apple cocktail. While over at Chicago’s favorite Italian kitchen, Mia Francesca, patrons can fall in love with Ravioli di Zucca, a pumpkin filled pasta in a sage browned butter sauce with veal reduction, fresh tomatoes and parmigiano. Don’t forget to leave room for the Mele e Mascarpone dessert and the Sparkling Cider champagne…its heavenly!
