This past week at the Social Good Summit in New York City, the UN unveiled the beautiful music video for “One Voice,” from international music star David Guetta.
The Social Good Summit, described as a “three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions” brought together speakers from all over the world to discuss innovative ideas on how to make our world a better place. One of the amazing ideas this year was an awesome cause marketing campaign set to the powerful visuals for “One Voice.”
Guetta’s song and video, featuring Mikky Ekko, was launched on World Humanitarian Day (August 19) and produced to support The World Needs More___ Campaign – a global, first-of-its-kind project that turns people’s words into real support for communities affected by humanitarian crises. TWNM is a collaborative effort between the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the UN Foundation, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA), and advertising agency Leo Burnett New York.
“The World Needs More campaign represents a whole new approach to cause marketing,” said Jay Benjamin, Chief Creative Officer of the advertising agency Leo Burnett New York, one of the campaign partners. “With backing from the private sector and support from the world’s creative community, the platform harnesses the power of social media in way that hasn’t been done before. It turns people’s words into action, and allows brands and consumers to connect around a meaningful cause.”
In order to watch the video, people are asked to select a sponsored word and share though Twitter or the campaign website. With doing so, they unlock $1 of the money pledged by the company sponsoring that word which goes toward aid efforts in the world’s most underfunded humanitarian crises. A few of the leading international companies involved include: Barclays Bank (#Inclusion), Western Union (#Education), Gucci (#Strength), Crescent Enterprises (#Entrepreneurs), KT (#Dreams), Intel (#Empowerment) and GlaxoSmithKline (#Healthcare), as well as the Sergio Vieira de Mello Foundation (#Dialogue).
“Music is a powerful way to connect and to bring people together,” said David Guetta. “Together we can use our voices to make a real difference for people in need around the world. I am so honoured to be part of this campaign. If we can make a change just by saying what the world needs now and raise money to help the UN by watching our video – wow. That’s incredible.”
The “One Voice” video (which can be seen here) captures joy and positivity from all over the world, and reminds us how much music complements those moments. The poignant piece also highlights the power one person can have when they raise their voice to make a difference in the world. The full-length music video and single will be launched November 4th and the entire campaign has been extended until late December.
