On October 5, the Catskill Animal Sanctuary (CAS) will host its 12th Annual Shindig: A Festival of Vegan Living. The goal is not only to raise funds for the continued rescue, rehabilitation and care of as many farm animals as possible, but to educate attendees about the values of the vegan lifestyle.
The event, which is fun for the whole family, traditionally features:
- Tours to meet the animals
- Education about the vegan lifestyle (and vegan food)
- Live music, hayrides, and a children’s tent
- Silent auction
This year, the Shindig is expanding to include all of the above, plus:
- More vegan food options
- Four vegan food demos
- Vegan vendors –A mini vegan food expo
- Live music by Emiko and Two Dollar Goat
- Special guest speaker Victoria Moran, the best-selling author of Main Street Vegan
Located in the Hudson River Valley, the Catskill Animal Sanctuary is home to horses and farm animals who have suffered abuse or neglect. Since 2001, CAS has rescued over 2,000 animals and has worked with law enforcement to bring animal abusers to justice.
