Miss A Columnist

Tiffany Chin is the Denver Editor for Miss A. She was raised in Hong Kong, and has traveled extensively around the world. She currently calls Denver her home, and can be found exploring local restaurants, attending festivals & entertainment events, and shopping to fulfill her obsession with dresses. She has found Colorado to be one of the best states in the country, and loves that it provides everything she left back home. In her quiet time, she plays the piano, cooks, sews, writes poetry and visits the mountains from time to time.

Organized and hosted by Community-Minded Dance (cmDance), a local non-profit that promotes dance programs for schools, individuals and groups, Lindy Diversion is giving everyone the opportunity over the weekend of October 18 -20 to learn, participate and give back to the community.

cmDance has been providing dance programs to kids and adults around Denver with a focus on schools from kindergarten to college. Due to education budget cuts over the years, they have seen several schools limiting arts programs therefore their mission is to continue to open the world of arts and dance to students so they, too, can experience the benefits of dancing. Instructors and musicians participating in this special event will come into town before and after the event to teach in cmDance’s school programs.

The birth of Lindy Diversion is for the Denver community to experience the same joy of dancing, which is pretty much the premise of their dance programs for schools and the public. For the entire weekend of Oct 18th – 20th, each day is broken up into classes, performances and late-night dance so you can find the level that suits you. These classes are held mostly in the Denver Turnverein, some at Auraria Campus’s Events Center and the farewell dance at Lodo Bar and Grill. In fact, you don’t have to attend the full weekend (although we highly encourage you to!) to be part of Lindy Diversion. There are several passes such as a Friday dance pass, Saturday evening pass and, of course, the full weekend pass, so all you need to do is find one that fits your schedule.

Lindy Diversion 2013 is a great event for couples to learn or show off their skills, newbies to dip their toe in the world of Lindy, professionals to set an example for beginners and be the best dancer they want to be, hobbyists to have fun and finally to raise funds so cmDance can bring the joy of dancing to the community.
