While most design houses were focused on their 2014 spring collection for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, BCBG Max Azria took the opportunity to give back in a big way. Reported in the Huffington Post last week, BCBG sold 8,778 items in its U.S. stores from September 5- 7 through its “Be Chic by Giving” shopping event, pledging to donate one piece of clothing to charity for every purchase. This event was magnificent and brought celebs, socialites and the fashion community together in a remarkable way. We applaud BCBG Max Azria for taking the time to give back while preparing for their Spring 2014 runway show, as it’s not an easy task.
What is Fashion Delivers: They take new products donated by manufacturers and retailers and give them to community charities across the U.S. and throughout the world. These product donations help survivors of natural disasters and other people in need rebuild their lives. Fashion Delivers gives companies with excess inventory an easy and efficient way to give back to society, and cash donations help distribute the merchandise. Explore their site and find out how you can help people in need. The charity recipients for the BCBG Max Azria event include Women in Need in New York, Shelter Partnership in Los Angeles, Caring for Others in Atlanta, Connections in Evanston, Ill. and Women on the Rise in Montreal.
