Miss A Columnist

Hayley Orzech is the News & Opinion Editor for Miss A. She found her passion in writing. She grew up in Detroit, MI and though it has been through the mill, she still has faith in it. She just graduated from Northern Michigan University and believes that you have not seen snow until you’ve spent a winter in Marquette on the shores of Lake Superior. She is in love with traveling and her hope now is to see as many places as she can while pursuing her dreams. She grew up in a large Polish family, full of firefighters. If she has learned anything other than how to not set her house on fire, it is that you can never take your blessings for granted because they might be up in flames before you can blink.

She adores traveling and meeting new people from all walks of life. She reads and writes everyday in between navigating her early 20’s. She's made it her mission to spread the wealth to those who are less fortunate. We are all in this together, after all.
She has had the privilege of adventures like snowboarding down the Rocky Mountains, jumping off of a cliff into clear, beautiful Lake Superior, hearing music on the Detroit River, running down a sand dune into the Au Sable River, looking up at the Statue of Liberty, climbing up a waterfall in Jamaica, letting her fingertips graze over a shark in Key West, hiking in California, gazing at Mount Rushmore, holding onto a giant Redwood tree and so many others that she can hardly believe her luck. All she truly want out of life is to have more adventures while helping others and doing the thing she love to do most: write.

We have heard it all before, literally. Honestly, can you even remember the last time you weren’t hearing about how you ought to be checking yourself for signs of breast cancer? Not that this is a bad thing, of course, we all should do it and it has probably saved a lot of lives, but as a Miss A reader, we can bet you’re a busy bee and busy sometimes means forgetting. We get it, it happens, but you can’t forget about your health, right? The Your Man Reminder App for the iPhone and Android was designed to help you remember your self-check ups with daily, weekly or monthly alerts given to you by your choice of handsome men. Sounds much better than another heath report on the morning news, wouldn’t you say?

Created in 2012, the Your Man Reminder App features several handsome men, a woman and even a doctor to remind you to check yourself with either daily, weekly or monthly alerts. When the time you set up for your alarm comes around, the app will come to life and show you a short clip to remind you of your health. However, unlike the news reports, this app features openly flirty comments from the bare chested men that want you to stay healthy, making it seem less like a chore. The men in the clips will also give you helpful hints about how to stay healthy, like eating a balanced diet and exercising. If you aren’t looking for flirty, however, the short clips featuring a doctor or a woman are also available to inform you that it’s time for a check up.

It turns out that even something this flirty and fun can help you when it comes to real health issues. And should you ever find anything during one of your checks, the app will save and remind you of doctor appointments. You can also take notes on what you noticed during your breast exam, so you won’t forget to tell your doctor. The app also gives step by step instructions on how to give yourself the best exam possible and informs you better on signs and symptoms, as well as ways you can reduce the risk of cancer. Sounds great, but what about your friends and family who haven’t downloaded the app? Your Man Reminder allows it’s users to send friendly, Man-O-Grams to your loved ones, featuring one of the hotties that appear on the app. Finally, this app also allows you to donate to Rethink Breast Cancer, an organization which provides funding for research, education and support programs for those facing breast cancer.

Sometimes, it’s easy to forget to check up on your health with such busy lives demanding your attention, but, luckily, there is an app for that. Download the Your Man Reminder App and keep your health a priority while getting something handsome to look at!
