The “Les Miserables” movie version amazed last year as hordes went out to discover (or re-discover) the story of Jean Valjean and his daughter Cosette. Of course, other top characters such a Fantine, Eponine and Marius also delighted fans. But this film is based on a musical that predates Anne Hathaway‘s Oscar winning performance. Zach Theatre‘s production will revitalize this brilliant show based on Victor Hugo‘s novel.
“Les Miserables” is the world’s longest running musical and has been seen by 65 million people. Now the smash hit production will be performed at Zach’s intimate Topfer Theatre. “ZACH will reinvent LES MISÉRABLES by revisiting the heart of a piece that audiences continue to clamor to see on the stage,” says Dave Steakley, producing artistic director. Last year, “Ragtime” was enjoyed by Austinites on the stage and “Les Mis” will continue the tradition of quality musicals being performed at Topfer. “Les Miserables” will be the first of six shows and musicals to be performed during the second season in Zach’s Topfer Theatre.
