For a twenty-fourth year, the NO/AIDS Walk will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2013. The 5k, which is Louisiana’s “largest annual AIDS awareness event,” will start in Audubon Park and take a winding path through Uptown (and back). Participants can expect to enjoy not only the camaraderie of their fellow walkers, but also live entertainment and tasty food offerings.
Relaxed and congenial, the NO/AIDS Walk is the perfect event for all ages, as well as our four-legged friends. While water stops (of both the human and doggie kind) will line the route, a children’s activity tent will be set up at the Audubon Park home-base.
Registration, as well as the food, beverage, and activity tents, will open at 8 a.m. Leading up to the official walk start (at 10 a.m.), music, dignitary speeches, and an aerobics warm-up are planned. Attendees should also expect lots of fun following 5k completion, as the event will wind-down around 2 p.m. (Don’t worry Saints fans. There is no game Sunday the 29th!)
Food, as well as both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, will be provided by Louisiana Pizza Kitchen Uptown, Rain Vodka, and Coors Light.
The NO/AIDS Task Force is dedicated to “providing hope, care and compassion to thousands of men, women and families affected by HIV & AIDS”. The organization provides services that support all levels of well-being – physical, mental, emotional, and social. It is through these ongoing efforts that the NO/AIDS task force touches not only thousands of individual lives annually, but also the community as a whole.
Please consider participating in this year’s NO/AIDS Walk. All proceeds will go to support the NO/AIDS Task Force with “over 80 cents of each dollar raised going directly to helping someone affected by the disease.”
