The Chadwick Bell Spring 2014 Collection at New York Fashion Week drew upon his roots of Southern California and the surf couture of the 1960’s. The collection took you thru the evolution of a youthful tough girl transforming into the strong modern woman. Lead Makeup Artist Daniel Martin along with Chief Creative Director of NYX Cosmetics Cristina Bartolucci decided to create a playful, but chic makeup look. What was decided upon was a two-toned bold red lip and luminous skin. “My inspiration for this look was a 60’s French girl sat the beach who projects an effortless radiance and only needs a fabulous red lip to dress up her face,” says Daniel Martin. ‘My goal was to keep the makeup fresh, with radiant sculpted skin, allowing attention to focus solely on the mouth.”
Loving this look? Here is how to re-create this stunning look on your own:
Start with NYFX Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation over the entire face. To cover any dark circles or blemishes NYFX HD Concealer Wand was applied very lightly. To get the neo-matte finish, Martin dusted the NYX Mineral Finishing Powder to the T-Zone.
The eyes were kept light and bright focusing on natural shading and sculpturing. The eyebrows were perfected first using the NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil with shading for a natural yet defined finish. For the eyeshadows martin choose the NYX Nude Matte Shadows in Dance with Tides, Maybe Later or Blame It on Midnight, based on the models skin tone. He also applied it with his fingers versus a brush so that he could press the shadow onto the lid. Lastly, he applied NYX The Curve a liquid liner lightly and close to the top lash line.
Versus using a blush or strong cheek color, Martin sculpted the cheek bones with the NYX Nude Matte Shadow in the same shade that the model had on her eyes.
The most important feature of the entire look. First he prepped the lips, to be the same shade as the models skin tone on the upper lip and a lighter shade on the bottom using NYX HD Concealer Wand. Then applied NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red to the top lip. Then lined the upper lip with NYX SLim Lip Pencil in Hot Red, making sure to define the lip. Then applied NYX Matte Lipstick in Indie Flick to the bottom lip and lightly dusted it with NYX Single Eye Shadow in Hot Orange. Which is how he created the two-tone pout.
