Art and philanthropy – how better to spend a Thursday evening than raising funds for breast cancer patients through a beautiful twist on celebrating the human form? Thursday, September 19, the second annual Breasts of Colorado gala and art exhibit, sponsored by The Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce, will take place at Cuttin’ It Loose Salon/Art Gallery in Englewood, CO. And this is one event where gawking at all the breasts that abound won’t earn you a slap across the face; over the summer more than 20 volunteers allowed molds of their chests to be made, and the casts were then painted by local artists. The result is an art exhibit as unique as each bold soul who modeled on behalf of breast cancer warriors everywhere.
Breasts of Colorado benefits Sense of Security, a local nonprofit whose mission is to ease the financial burden that breast cancer patients face as they battle their disease. Patients often miss work during their fight due to the toll treatment takes on their time and bodies and Sense of Security helps those people in their fight against breast cancer be able to afford to stay in their homes, keep groceries in their fridges, and pay their utilities bills so that they may better focus on recovering without worrying about lost income.
Breasts of Colorado is free and open to the public. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served with local band The Flash Mob providing live music for the event. Chest models are raising funds for Sense of Security through sponsorship donations from family and friends. Attendees will also have the opportunity to help the fundraising effort through various activities such as a silent auction.
