Hotels from the Ritz-Carlton brand are known for their beautiful open spaces, world class dining, experiences that are synonymous with luxury, thoughtful amenities and prime locations around world. Sustainability is not one of the first descriptions that comes to mind — until now.
Similar to our Environmental Protection Agency here in the United States, the EU’s EMAS utilizes an independent third-party auditing team and a “publicly transparent reporting process” to encourage organizations and companies to improve their environmental impact.
Some of the hotel’s initiatives include:
- Reducing the water consumption of the hotel by 50 percent
- Creating a waste paper initiative that collected 25 tons of hotel waste paper quarterly and converts it to school notebooks distributed in Germany and abroad,
- The addition of a sweet rooftop honey production site that uses over 150,000 bees to produce up to 330 pounds of honey annually
