Fields of daises projected on walls greeted guests as they arrived for the Noon by Noor show. Returning for their third showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, the designer duo, cousins Shaikha Noor and Shaikha Haya, provided the full house with a breath of fresh Spring 2014 air.
With their native Bahrain’s 400 year old Tree of Life serving as the inspiration behind the collection, the looks sent down the runway paid tribute to natural beauty: bold prints of greenery, palm leaf motifs, daisy graphics and intricate floral appliques. A play on silhouettes and textures anchored some of the defining elements of the line—voluminous jackets, full gowns, pencil skirts with slits, and leather-and-lace combinations. Every collection of Noon by Noor is recognizable by the brand’s signature use of lace and this season was no different with the incorporation of special honeycomb lace. Their springtime colorway spanned the deepest of orange, along with off-white, mauve, ox-blood and navy. A cache full of lightness and fun, made unique by meticulous design, Noon by Noor Spring 2014 is sophisticated-meets-sporty—amped by true elegance inspired by nature. Here are some of my favorite looks.
