Spring 2014 gets an edge with seasoned New York Fashion Week designer, Carmen Marc Valvo. His dresses and evening gowns have garnered a huge celebrity following, gracing many a red carpet affair. Actress Vanessa Williams, who was sitting front row during the show, even sported a pair of the same heels featured on the very runway.
A monochromatic boldness echoed off the garments and even from each model’s dip-dyed do. Leather paired with sporty mesh, body con silhouettes and textured stripes call for a springtime freshness that is more playfully risqué than demure. The incorporation of sheer overlay, sequins and strategic paneling held together by barely there mesh paid tribute to the brand’s meticulous tailoring and construction.
With his eponymous label founded in 1989, Carmen Marc Valvo has been a Fashion Week mainstay since the inception of his brand. His tenacity has also been apparent in his advocacy for colorectal cancer awareness, having been a survivor himself. He’s supported the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA) and the Entertainment Industry Foundation, his efforts earning him the NCCRA’s Advocate Award for Increasing Public Awareness, presented to him by friend and fellow philanthropist, Katie Couric.
