On Sunday, October 27, 2013 the seventh annual New England Walk4Hearing fundraiser will welcome Beverly, Mass. native and American Idol finalist Angie Miller as this year’s spokesperson. The fundraiser hits close to home for Angie, who unbeknownst to many, is affected by 40 percent hearing-loss.
Since their inception in 2006, Walk4Hearing events have raised over $6 million and boasted over 35,000 walkers per event, making Walk4Hearing the fastest growing fundraiser and public event for hearing-loss in the country.
The proceeds will go towards local communities to extend communication access with CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) and to provide scholarships for students with hearing-loss. The event encourages the general public to join forces and help remove the stigma associated with hearing loss. According to the Hearing Loss Association of American, over 48 million Americans suffer from hearing loss.
The New England Walk4Hearing check-in begins at 10 a.m. at Artesani Park in Brighton, Mass. Spectators can cheer on the masses, who will line up at 11:0 a.m. for the start of the 3.1 mile Walk4Hearing event!
