Dena Miller is the Dallas Editor for Miss A. She has been described by Style Network as a "Queen Bee". Formerly a glam rock scene Diva, Dena is now a Socialite on the Dallas philanthropy scene, specializing in Polo events that benefit women's and children's causes.

While never forgetting her small town roots from a Midwestern farming community in rural Missouri, she’s fit right in the “Big D” since coming here in 1984. After 11 years of promoting the music scene, hobnobbing with the most popular bands from coast to coast, she switched gears after meeting her husband at the first Polo match she ever attended. Always one for excitement, Polo became her new rock n roll.
With her marriage and new found passion for polo, came Philanthropy. Miller founded the Ladies Polo Auxiliary of Texas in 2005 with the goal of promoting the Sport of Kings in north Texas via charity events for causes that are close to her heart. To date the LPA has raised over $500,000 for causes such as domestic violence, children with serious medical needs, therapeutic horsemanship, the Polo Training Foundation, children’s advocacy and food drives for north Texas food Bank. When not working on her own events she is attending Charity luncheons and balls as well as volunteering at golf tournaments and Special Olympics events. She is a member of the USPA Equine Welfare committee and on Board of Dress For Succes Dallas.

Writing has been a lifetime passion of Dena’s. Besides working on a book that proceeds will benefit domestic violence organizations, and writing for two national polo magazines, is a frequent contributor to Dallas area publications, winning Best Contributor Award from Dallas Morning News Neighborsgo, she is co-authoring a book on the phenomenon of cyber bullying by adult women, referred to as Cyber Harrassment.

Prestonwood Polo Club’s Fall Season: Cover Shot Photo Contest And Schedule

Calling all professional and amateur photographers! What is more beautiful to photograph than a horse? A thoroughbred polo pony in the heat of action! Prestonwood Polo Club invites all to come out to any Fall polo seasons Saturday matches with your cameras and capture the action both on the field and on the sidelines.

The first ever “Cover Shot Photo Contest” will have two categories-Best Action and Best Social photo. Winners from both categories will have the opportunity to have their photo featured on the cover of 380 Guides 2014 Polo Edition magazine as well as featured on the club’s website and Facebook. Rules are simple: Photo must have been taken at Prestonwood Polo Club and be submitted in high resolution by November 16. All entries give permission for photos to be used with photo credit given.

Fall Polo season opens at Prestonwood Polo Club on Saturday, September 7 with the customary season opening reception hosted by the Ladies Polo Auxiliary of Texas in the grand pavilion. Always family and leashed dog friendly, guests are always welcome to BYOB/Picnic, but LPA provides light snacks and complimentary white wine to welcome polo fans back to Prestonwood after summer hiatus.

Enjoy field polo through November 9 with fabulous events such as the Inaugural VANCE C. MILLER MEMORIAL CUP in honor of the club’s patriarch and long-time supporter, and to celebrate his eightieth birthday. The pavilion will be closed for a private party during the Hedge-Estate Cup, but grandstands, tailgate and picnic areas are open at the regular low admission price. October is always exciting with the annual Polo version of the Texas-OU Red River Rivalry Shootout and the Ninth Annual Polo on the Midway/USPA 380 Guide Community Challenge Cup benefiting Special Olympics Texas. Closing out the season in November are two back-to-back USPA tournaments. The action doesn’t stop after Fall season ends on the field, come out and support USPA Interscholastic and Intercollegiate season in the arena! This year Prestonwood is planning on fielding two Interscholastic teams: Prestonwood Boys and Girls team, as well as the TCU Women’s Polo team, Coached by USPA 2-goal Polo Coach Vaughn Miller.
