Philadelphia-area residents know just how many excellent culinary options are available throughout the city and the suburbs. For those who want to experience a wide array of offerings from area chefs up close and personal, the Philadelphia Food Evolution event is a sure bet. Being held to benefit the James Beard Foundation as part of their Taste America campaign, the Philadelphia Food Evolution event brings the culinary arts and those who create such items to the forefront. Attendees will be able to enjoy culinary samplings, a live auction and have the opportunity to socialize with others who support the James Beard Foundation.
The James Beard Foundation is an organization founded in 1986 which operates to encourage and further the diverse culinary heritage of America. Through various programs and education, the James Beard Foundation promotes numerous aspects of the culinary industry. In addition, this organization has taken many strides to ensure that those wishing to attain a culinary education can do so by making scholarship opportunities available to individuals. The James Beard Foundation also recognizes chefs, restaurateurs, cookbook authors, food journalists and other key culinary players throughout the country and presents them with the prestigious James Beard Award for excellence in the culinary industry.
Those interested in attending the Philadelphia Food Evolution event have two options with regard to tickets: VIP and general admission. VIP guests will enjoy a private reception with the participating chefs as well as a seated VIP dinner. General admission guests will join the party a short while later to have a sampling party all their own, where they can try the various dishes presented by renowned culinary professionals. Later in the evening, guests have the opportunity to further support the James Beard Foundation by taking part in a live auction.
VIP guests will have their meal prepared by chefs chosen by James Beard Foundation Award winners Georges Perrier, Susanna Foo, Jean-Marie Lacroix, Judy Wicks and Steve Poses. Chefs such as Carla Hall, a Taste America All-Star, Patrick Feury of Nectar and host chef, David Katz of Creekstone Farms and host chef, Pierre Calmels of Bibou, Anne Coll of Meritage and Matthew Ridgway of The Pass will have a hand in preparing the most delectable entrées and accompaniments for those holding VIP tickets.
Those attending the event as general admission guests will have their fair share of incredible delicacies as well. With over 20 chefs presenting their culinary samplings, those who are lucky enough to attend will surely not go hungry in their area of the event. Some of the fabulous chefs who will be offering their dishes include Lucio Palazzo of La Calaca Feliz, Scott Schroeder of South Philly Tap Room, Jeremy Nolen of Brauhaus Schmitz, Jon Cichon of Lacroix, Joey Baldino of Zeppoli and Ed Batejan of Peachtree & Ward Catering, to name a few. The entire list of participating chefs can be found on the James Beard Foundation Taste America website.
In addition to benefiting the James Beard Foundation, a portion of the proceeds will also benefit Greener Partners, a Philadelphia-area organization which dedicates its efforts to building community via sustainable farming and farm-oriented education. Also during the evening there will be a special tribute to Mark and Judy Dornstreich of Branch Creek Farm to recognize their farm-to-table accomplishments.
If you love the idea of sampling unique and delicious cuisine and helping to further the goals of the James Beard Foundation, a vital organization in the culinary industry, then be sure to attend the Philadelphia Food Evolution event on October 4.
