I will never forget I first time I heard Ariana Grande new single “The Way” while driving in the car, I kept thinking Mariah Carey has decided to go back to the beginning of her career with this song. It wasn’t until weeks later that my husband informed me that in fact that song was Ariana Grande. So I was really familiar with her music when I found out I would be attending her concert. Not so sure what to expect as I headed down the Electric Factory in Philadelphia to attend the show. When I arrived I saw a line around the block of preteens and teen girls overwhelmed with excitement.
As the night went on the girls and some guys could not contain there enthusiasm as I walked from backstage to get ready for the show to start I was greeted by a crowd of young girls screaming “Do you know Ariana?’ when I replied “no” they seemed a tad disappointed
but their anxious energy continued. The show began with DJ’s Les Professionnels spinning a few tunes as rapper Young Gliss hyped up the audience more then they already were. The began playing hits such as Miley Cyrus new hit “We Can’t Stop” really got the audience going. Les Professionnels ended their set by debuting “Don’t Give It Away” their lastest single.
Ariana hit the stage around 8pm beginning the night with upbeat songs and dancing. The show was set to be a intimate listening session of her debut set to hit store September 2, 2013. She song many different ballads with a strong inspirations from Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Her voice was so strong especially coming from this pint sized girl, reminiscent of Christina Aguilera. She sung about 8 songs while saving her most famous song to date “The Way” for the end of the show. Immediately following the show Ariana did a meet and greets with her fans before exiting to get ready for her show in New Jersey the following day.
The Listening tour is only being held in nine cities across the United States and Canada and is said to be the beginning of her actual larger tour to come. She has tweeted to her fans “It’s called Listening Sessions because we’re playing only a few intimate venues & you’ll get to hear the music live before the album is out.” Ultimately, the new album will welcome everyone into Ariana’s world, and It’s a said to be a wonderful place.
