Girls just want to have fun, as the saying goes, but who says that fun can’t be empowering and enlightening at the same time. The first Women’s Expo put on by the New York Urban League Young Professionals (NYULYP), on Saturday, August 24, 2013 will do just that. The event will be held at the Helen Mills Event Space in New York City from 12 until 5 p.m. This Women’s Expo is geared toward the modern urban woman and keeping her in the know.
For just $10 online or $20 at the door, those attending will gain insight and access into a community of female leaders. NYULYP invites guests to learn more about various aspects of the modern urban women’s life, ranging from career development and relationships, to health, beauty and fashion trends. The expo will consist of vendor tables highlighting female and minority owned local businesses and organizations. The Saturday afternoon will offer manicures and beauty services, as well as personalized consultations from industry professionals. The first 200 attendees will also receive a goodie bag courtesy of the event’s sponsors like State Farm, Miss Jessie’s, Macy’s and TJX.
It is a great chance to exchange, to network, and to build relationships and opportunities, as well as support NYULYP. The New York Urban League Young Professionals, founded in 2003, has supported New York City communities by getting involved in community service programs and initiatives. It has also held various development and empowerment forums for young professionals, training the next generation of leaders. NYULYP is connected to the New York Urban League, an affiliate of the National Urban League, which has been serving disadvantaged New Yorkers for over 90 years to gain equal opportunity in employment, education, health care, housing and the civic arena.
