Each year, the New Orleans‘ Red Dress Run attracts thousands to its bar crawl through Downtown and the French Quarter. Clad in their best red gowns, participants enjoy a full day of libations, music, and revelry. Proceeds from the event will support a number of local non-profits, ranging from animal charities and community betterment initiatives to education programs and beyond.
On Saturday, August 10, the 2013 Red Dress Run will kick off in Louis Armstrong Park with registration at 9 a.m. and first drinks at 9:30. Musical performances, featuring Cowboy Mouth and Dash Rip Rock, will start at 10 a.m., ahead of the run at 11. Specific stops (along the two mile route) will be announced on event day, so be ready for plenty of surprises.
Organizations benefited by the 2012 event included, among others: Girls First, Luke’s House, PAWS, and Project Lazarus. In total, fifty groups received grants, and the Red Dress Run’s organizers looks forward to supporting many of the same, as well as new, groups in their ongoing efforts.
In addition, members of New Orleans’ Hash House Harriers can also partake in Friday’s Lingerie Run and Sunday’s Hangover Run.
