The Malibu Inn across from the ocean with its fun slogan perched outside – “Vintage Mood, Epic Food,” was in high gear this past Sunday, July 27 in the late afternoon as all sorts of entertainment folks came out for the launch of the Fall 2013 collection of Asphalt Yacht Club, a brand that is representing the top five skateboarders in the world.
Sponsored by Voli Light Vodkas and Sprite, the open bar from 4 -8 p.m. had everyone in good spirits as the crowd was jam packed inside and out. So many celebrities were in attendance. I saw Stacy Keibler, John Stamos, Chord Overstreet, Paris Hilton, Ryan Phillippe and Too Short. I got to meet Too Short as I was coming in and tell him how I saw him jam at the old Hollywood hotspot The Colony many years ago. Paris Hilton looked lovely in a long flowing dress, big sunglasses and her hottie man River Viiperi on hand. A guest appearance from French Montana had the crowd sweating and going wild as they rapped us silly.
Other guests included Scott Disick, Audrina Patridge, Lydia Hearst, Rob Dyrdek, Caridee English, Kemba Walker, Sky Blu of LMFAO, Skylar Grey, Bonnie McKee, Alex Da Kid, Mike Zucker, Asphalt Yacht Club Founder Stevie Williams, Stefan Janoski, Nyjah Huston, Riley Hawk, Justin “Figgy” Figueroa, Derrick Wilson, Ben Nordberg and Blake Carpenter.
Asphalt Yacht Club was founded by pro skateboarder Stevie Williams, along with Stefan Janoski, Nyjah Huston and Justin “Figgy” Figueroa. Amateur skaters on the AYC team include Riley Hawk, Derrick Wilson, Ben Nordberg and Blake Carpenter. AYC combines skate culture, street style and contemporary fashion into one. Inspiration for the clothing line is drawn from the diversity of its team members, the designs reflecting both the struggle to succeed and the luxuries of success. “Everyone has a different path for success. AYC is about seeing your lane and believing that you can go for it and make it happen. No matter when you come from. Asphalt Yacht Club, from the streets to the yacht.” – Founder Stevie Williams
