Being recently divorced and a little clueless when it comes to dating, I was very excited and curious to attend Friday’s book signing event with Andrea Syrtash and Jeff Wilser. Held at STK Atlanta, the co-authors of the new book It’s Okay to Sleep With Him on the First Date: And Every Other Rule of Dating, Debunked did not just sign copies of their book, but they also made a point to mingle and chat with guests. Party goers were having a good time and enjoyed the company of the authors while also enjoying complimentary drinks from Atlanta-based Vixen Vodka.
To be completely honest, the title of the book had me a bit skeptical about what the authors had to say on the topic of dating, but after having the chance to speak with Syrtash and Wilser and skim through the book, a lot of what they have to say in the book makes a lot of sense. Let me be clear about the title, they are not saying you should sleep with someone on the first date, but they are saying that it won’t always ruin a relationship if it happens. To me the book revolves around one central theme, which is to go with your gut and be yourself rather than use a set of rules (many outdated if you ask me) to dictate how you pursue dating. The authors were completely down to earth and very passionate about their message. As the event came to an end, Syrtash and Wilser made a point to address the crowd and thank everyone for coming and showing their support. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the event and really had a good time speaking with the authors and at least hearing their views on dating.
