Many of us love to indulge in a wide array of culinary options, but we may not consider how the food gets to the table and the processes it goes through along the way. Fortunately, events such as Cochon focus on this factor and add evenings of great culinary creations, delicious wines and fabulous crowds into the mix. With various events throughout the U.S., Cochon is zoning in on Philadelphia with the EPIC No. 2 event taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia on Sunday, July 28. Guests who have the opportunity to attend this tasting event will enjoy food and beverages from some of the best chefs and beverage vendors in the region and beyond.
EPIC No. 2 will feature pork-centric tastings prepared by some of the best in the business. With over 1500 lbs. of heritage pork being served in a variety of unique ways, you won’t go hungry at this event. Both chefs from the area as well as other culinary talents from across the U.S. will impress the crowd with their edible creations. Some of the local chefs showing off their talents include Jeff Michaud and Brad Spence of Alla Spina, Jose Garces and Michael Fiorello of the Garces Restaurant Group, Daniel Stern of R2L, Kevin Sbraga of Sbraga, Jeremy Nolen of Brauhaus Schmitz and host chef Nathan Volz of 10 Arts, to name a few. Pair the tasting dishes alongside palate-pleasing beers and wines of all varieties and the end result is a spectacular culinary event.
Cochon was founded in 2008 by Brady Lowe who wanted to highlight the aspect of farm to table cuisine but focus on the period of time between the two. It was important to highlight information on heritage breeds and educate consumers as to this aspect. Cochon enabled individuals to understand the relationship between farmer, restaurant owner and patron and show how it was possible to deliver excellent food choices in a responsible manner. From its inception, Cochon was a success and brought to light the importance of a natural and sustainable food system. Each year, many cities throughout the U.S. host a Cochon event and provide an evening filled with superb culinary creations, delicious beverages and the opportunity to educate those who want to know more about their food choices and why choosing the right ones is crucial.
Guests at the EPIC No. 2 event will get to spend an evening in the exquisite Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia with others who are eager to taste many different pork creations, sip unique wines and beers and learn more about heritage breeds and responsible farming options. The money raised from the various Cochon events in the past has gone to help a wide array of charities and also helped to support farmers directly. In addition to EPIC No. 2 being a great opportunity to learn more about responsible farm to table processes, it is also a fun tasting event to attend as it provides guests with a way to mingle with others who share a similar love of food.
