Miss A Columnist

Pam Renee is an original WHO DAT LOUISIANA girl, now dwelling in downtown Dallas, which isn’t so bad of a distance when the craving for a spicy Creole dish, warm powdered beignets, or her favorite drive-thru daiquiri spot cannot be shaken. Described as a vogue-a-holic by default, a socialite by nature, and a shoe-preneur by trade, she delights in the unexpected, has a tongue in cheek approach to tradition, never wears just anything, miscellaneous is her favorite category, and lastly – is easily spoiled by all things fabulous and swanky.
Pam loves the Big D (Dallas) because there is always a wide and various array of things available to do, so it has become the norm for her to try to be in two, three, maybe four places in one evening when her calendar gets really tight. She has unintentionally made a name for herself by being the GO TO person for friends, family, (sometimes strangers) desiring something unique, something fabulous, something chic, to attend, stay, entertain, dine, wine, network, or shop.

Karl Lagerfeld Reveals Details For Chanel’s Metiers d’Art Show In Dallas

Months ago, we shared the exciting news of Karl Lagerfeld’s plans to stage Chanel’s next Metiers d’Art show here in Dallas. Via British Vogue came the announcement, following the designer’s interview with Bridget Foley at the WWD Apparel & Retail CEO Summit in New York. Karl Lagerfeld’s Metiers D’Art shows for Chanel have become known for their extravagant settings in exotic locations–Scotland, Versailles, Venice, Moscow, Paris of course….and now DALLAS!

Metiers d’Art productions are hallmarked by their grand scale and intense attention to detail. In December of last year for example, a breathtaking centuries-old palace in Edinburgh hosted the show, complete with whiskey refreshments, bag pipers and an exclusive dinner overlooking a loch.

It seems like a dream come true, as we’ve been holding our breath since the news first leaked,  remembering that good things come to those that wait. Now, the wait is finally over.

Reported by WWD and confirmed by Vogue, Chanel’s Dallas Métiers d’Art show will take place Tuesday, December 10, 2013. What’s more, CCP-Luxury reports that its theme, The Return, will be inspired by Coco Chanel’s U.S. success in the 1950s. Lagerfeld said he chose the location in appreciation of the support Dallas-based luxury department store Neiman Marcus gave Chanel when the house reopened after WWII. “When Chanel reopened, the French press was beyond nasty. The only press that understood it immediately was the American press,” he said at the event. “So I think it’s a nice thing to go there.” Plus, he says, “I love Texas. I love Texans.”

As if the news could not get any better for us fashionistas in the Big D, Lagerfeld is also directing a short film to accompany the December show starring Geraldine Chaplin as the lady herself, with filming taking place in Paris, featuring co-stars Rupert Everett and Arielle Dombasle.

We do it BIG in Dallas, so as we patiently await location details, however if asked, I would suggest the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge (not so exotic nor extravagant), but wouldn’t it make the perfect runway? Whatever the venue, this will definitely be a December to remember!

WHEN: Tuesday, December, 10, 2013

P.S. Good and bad news. Dallas will be abuzz with people attending the show, celebrities, models etc. The bad news is that this will be a private, invite-only event!
