Artists can hone their skills, but their eye for art is a gift. Thirteen-year-old Talia Castellano had a give with art, specifically makeup artistry. Talia, who had been battling cancer, refused to wear a wig and said “makeup is my wig,” began to boost her self-confidence by experimenting with makeup and quickly became known as the “YouTube Makeup Guru,” posting makeup tutorials on how to get the look, use color shadows, day to evening looks and looks geared towards teens.

The teen was a fan of Ellen Degeneres and was able to meet her in 2012. Ellen Degeneres, a CoverGirl spokesperson and model, along with the major makeup company surprised Talia by making her the first and to date only honorary CoverGirl. The Cosmetic giant did a photo shoot with Talia and surprised her with a $20,000 check, makeup and a professional makeup lighting set.

Sadly, Talia Castellano lost her battle to cancer on July 16. CoverGirl paid tribute to Talia with the message, “Talia Castellano was the meaning of a true COVERGIRL. Please join me in sending love and honoring her memory.”

In memory of Talia and her makeup skills, we would like to list our Top Three Best of Makeup Video Tutorials. They have some great tips, application skills and it is hard to believe that she is only thirteen.
