Randi Roberts is a food blogger, living just outside of New York City. She has BA in Art History from Brown University and a Master’s in Art Business from Sotheby’s in London and a consuming interest in aesthetics, in art, fashion, or food.

She has lived and studied in Cannes, London and Bologna (not coincidentally, a food capital of Italy). Her experiences both here and abroad have helped to cultivate her sense of adventure and an open-minded approach to life. Those experiences have deepened her understanding of aesthetics and visual presentation. Such appreciation is reflected in her food photography as well as her writing, be it be fiction or nonfiction.

She has worked in retail exposing her to the fields of fashion, art and beauty products. Her customer experience has given her insight into people, their buying habits and the world in which we live. Her ability as a story-teller helps her to relate to others, a useful tool for connecting with readers or viewers.

Swiss National Day Celebration To Benefit The Swiss Benevolent Society Of New York

Swiss NAtional dayThis year the Swiss Benevolent Society is pulling out all the stops to celebrate Swiss heritage on Swiss National Day with Swiss, Swiss-Americans and friends of Switzerland in New York City. This celebration of Switzerland will benefit the Swiss Benevolent Society of New York. The family friendly event will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 6 – 11 p.m. at New York City’s Central Park Zoo. The celebration will include regional Swiss food and wines, music, a raffle and a silent auction with great prizes. There will also be a Swiss Village featuring Swiss clubs and organizations, as well as activities for children in the Kid’s Zone.

Guests will be treated to the culinary delights of the award-winning Swiss celebrity Chef- Proprietor Reto Mathis of Mathis Food Affairs, assisted by Chef Yannick Germanier from The Consulate General of Switzerland in New York. The culinary journey will include regional specialties of Switzerland, along with more traditional fair including Swiss sides and desserts. Even the kids under 12 will have their own chef-inspired Heidi & Peter Kid’s Menu.

Swiss National dayEntertainment will include contemporary and traditional Swiss music provided by the Swiss duo Leo & Walter as well as DJ Alexandre Segal. The music can be enjoyed on the dance floor, chilling out in the lounge, or in the Nespresso VIP lounge. Science will also be on display at the Central Park Zoo for Swiss National Day. This event will be the premiere of the Swiss robot “Rezero,” crafted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. A sea lion demonstration and feeding is also scheduled.

All this Swiss fun, food and entertainment are not only to commemorate Swiss National Day, but it will benefit an organization that has been integral to the Swiss immigrant community for the last 160 years. The Swiss Benevolent Society of New York, one of the oldest charitable Swiss organizations in the United States was founded in 1832, and continues to aid the Swiss community in the greater New York area.
