Imagine taking in a lake view on a summer evening while you’re sampling summer wines and admiring the blooming flower beds just outside. Now stop imagining and step into the scene. On Wednesday, July 24, the American Wine Society Denver Chapter will be hosting Bubbles, Bites & Summer Wines at the Washington Park Boathouse. And what makes this event even better than you imagined it is that funds raised will help benefit Sense of Security.

Sense of Security is a Colorado nonprofit organization that offers financial support to breast cancer patients. While so many nonprofits that center around cancer focus on medical research, Sense of Security’s aim is to provide financial resources to patients battling breast cancer and their families to help with the everyday expenses that persist during treatment, such as housing, food, child care, and transportation. Their mission is to ease financial stress so that breast cancer patients can focus more wholly on recovery.

Event guests will enjoy summer wines, sparkling wines and paired appetizers from Footers Catering. Music will be provided by Ultimate Sounds. And of course you can’t go wrong taking in the views of the Big Garden and Smith Lake from the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Boathouse. Plenty of street parking is available around the perimeter of Washington Park; otherwise there is also limited parking available within the park with access through the following entrances: Marion & Virgina (north side), Exposition & Downing (west side), Kentucky & Franklin (east side) or Mississippi & Franklin (south side).
