Denver Outlaws vs New York Lizards Lacrosse game

Since this weekend is starting on a Thursday for most people, watching a game of the Denver Outlaws is the perfect way to celebrate the fourth of July. Lacrosse games are one of the most entertaining games especially at our very own Outlaws game. After playing (and hopefully beating) the New York Lizards, a fireworks show will ensue. If you’ve never been to a Denver Outlaws game then this weekend is the time, you are bound to be entertained with laughs and excitement.

Olde Town Arvada Spirit of America 4th of July Festival

Olde Town Arvada always puts on one of Denver’s best fourth of July celebrations. Join close to 30,000 other Coloradoans at Arvada’s spectacular annual celebration of the spirit of America. Free family-friendly events throughout the afternoon and evening include a Kids’ Park featuring an obstacle course, bungee run, big slide, face tattoos and more fun activities, a classic Car Show and plenty of food and drinks concession stands and carts. Parking opens at 3pm and it is first come first serve.

Old Fashioned July 4th Celebration

Tucked in the Glendale neighborhood, just at the end of Exposition road is the beloved Four Mile Historic Park. This fun little park has plenty of events throughout the year and one of them is their Old Fashioned July 4th Celebration. This year, festivities will include visits from Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Uncle Sam; the reading of the Declaration of Independence and performances by the Denver Concert Band and other area musicians.  Traditional summertime food and refreshments will be available for purchase as well. Stay for Glendale’s July 4th tradition of fireworks

Colorado Renaissance Festival

What do you do after an early start to the weekend and you still have plenty of energy left? Go to the Colorado Renaissance Festival. After being part of Colorado’s tradition for 37 years, the Colorado Renaissance Festival is still going strong and entertaining thousands of visitors every summer. Enter the kingdom of kings, queens, knights and jesters, you’ll only find yourself surrounded in anything and everything renaissance. From giant turkey legs and traditional leather clothing to entertainment and family-friendly activities, you can spend hours there feeling as if you’ve gone back in time. Attendees even go as far as dressing as if they were living in the time of the Renaissance!

bRUNch at Zengo

If you love to run and you love brunch then this is the event for you. Organized by a local running group, start your Saturday morning with 5K or 10K run at Zengo and finish with a brunch at Zengo all for a low, low price of $20 which includes gratuity and taxes. You can find the 5K route here and the 10K route here. It is by no means a competitive race but more of a social run.

VegFest 2013

You heard it right, folks. You heard it right – VegFest. Hosted at Jefferson County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, VegFest 2013 is a health and environmental fair supporting a plant-based diet and lifestyle. This event will feature expert chefs demonstrating healthful vegan dishes and renowned speakers who will speak on health, diet and environmental issues.  As a special treat this year, enjoy the comedic talents of John Novosad, aka, Hippieman who has performed on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Additional activities include food sampling, restaurants, commercial exhibitors, fun for the kids and more.

Truth in Brewing Festival

As a proud state of craft beer, we have to fit in a brew fest of some kind in our long weekend. Beginning their first series on July 6th, Truth in Brewing Festival is a concert series that happens every month featuring one special musician each series. Accompanying the talent are local breweries including Oskar Blues, Asher Brewing, Upslope & many more! This weekend, Policulture & Jeff Brinkman Bandare going to entertain a crowd of up to 500 (that’s how many tickets are only going to be sold). Better yet, this festival is a fundraiser where proceeds go to benefit Love Hope Strength and Progressive Health Center.
