Tiffany Chin is the Denver Editor for Miss A. She was raised in Hong Kong, and has traveled extensively around the world. If you missed Denver Day of Rock, a one-day all day free concert event, not to worry because Downtown Denver Partnerships is throwing Make Music Denver. Hosted on the 16th street mall, Make Music Denver is a worldwide celebration of free music to celebrate summer solstice. Musicians are lined up along 16th Street Mall or in venues who have graciously provided their space for musicians to make music. Everyone can enjoy music from classical, hip hop, jazz, country and more!

Westword Music Showcase

And the highly anticipated Westword Music Showcase is back for another year of live music! If you can’t get enough of music for a day with Make Music Denver on the 21st then the Westwod Music Showcase is a must for anyone looking for something to do this weekend. Playing in several different bars and restaurants all along Broadway and Lincoln, this is a “walking concert” but you’re bound to see some talk-of-the-town local and national artists performing in venues such as Dazzle, City Hall, Stoney’s Bar and Grill and more! This year’s headliner is DaDa Life and Trampled by Turtle. Check out who else will be performing here.

Denver Undy 5000 5K Run/Walk

Grab the kids and grab the dog, but leave your pants at home and come run the Denver Undy 5000. Put on by Colon Cancer Alliance, run in your underwear while raising awareness for colon cancer. Instead of race day T-shirts, all registered participants receive a commemorative pair of Undy 5000 boxers. This fundraising event is a family-friendly and open to all ages. You can register as an individual or a team. There is also a one-mile fun run and a giant, walk-through inflatable colon will make its appearance at the event.

Cherry Blossom Festival

Come learn about the arts and culture of Japan through performances, fashion, food and more at the Cherry Blossom Festival. Every year you’ll find a happy amount of performances on their main stage including martial arts, Japanese drumming, Japanese folk dancing as well as contemporary performances such as hip hop and magic tricks. Located on Lawrence between 19th – 20th, a selection of arts and crafts vendors will have you browsing through vintage kimono, handmade jewelry, Asian-inspired pottery, books and anime, dolls, fine art, Japanese Hawaiian T-shirts, and more.

Ballet in the Park

If you want to get away from Denver but don’t want to travel too far, make your way to Boulder for Ballet at the Park. Presented by the Boulder Ballet Company, the Ballet at the Park is a summer series where audience get the chance of watching a live ballet performance for free. Hosted at different parts of town – indoor or outdoor – this weekend, performances will be held in a park on Broadway and Canyon in Boulder. Enjoy a beautiful summer evening with the ballet and marvel at the spontaneous dancing by children from the audience after the show! Performance length is approximately one hour.
