Miss A Columnist

Amber Valentine’s smile and personality is as big as the state of Texas where she was born and raised. Her close friends call her Val. The bilingual, professional trained Opera/classical singer enjoys her days studying, writing, exercising, shopping, and every blue moon will perform a ballet in one of the nine languages she’s trained to sing in. With a degree in Liberal Arts, she continues her academic career at the prestigious SMU in Dallas, Texas.

Never forgetting the morals and values she was raise with her passion, and love for supporting others runs deeply within her. Amber is an all-American girl with loves for culture, food, fashion, volunteering, reading, and acting. If she not in the community helping, and supporting her fellow Texans, you will find her spending time with her best friend who is also her mother. She is not afraid to share her story about surviving a rare brain and blood illness because she knows how precious every single moment life has to offer.

Writing has been a way for Amber to connect and understand her surroundings, especially during her adolescent years. When she joined speech and debate, her parents were not surprised at all with her success. Little did Amber know that her passion would lead to her becoming a professional speechwriter for the local business community, doctors, city politicians, and grassroots organizers.

This one particular passion has led to Amber building strong relationships as Entrepreneur, and running a local nonprofit called Readers and Dreamers and book club, which supports rare illnesses and disabled people within the community. Amber dream is to one day be an ambassador for disabled bodies across the world. Her favorite saying tomorrow is a new day, but not always promised, so do your best today.

Boas, tiaras and a whole lot of pink were on display at the annual Boas & Tiaras high tea. The organization was honored to have the event hosted by local Shannon Powell Hart of “Good Morning Texas.” The guest of honor was international best selling author Nalini Sigh, there with her new book Psy-Changeling #12.

With over 100 tickets sold, excited guests had to get there early just to make sure they got a chance to sit at their table of choice. The attendees surely knew how to bring Dallas style to a historical English past time – tiaras with bling, cowboy hats and boas big as Texas pride! The crowd was able to have up and close moments with some of the best authors around. “Writing is a welcome challenge, and a personal joy,” stated author Morgan Fox.

The crowd was very excited gathered around the raffle table as they dropped their tickets in, hoping to be one of the lucky numbers called to claim one of many amazing gift bags on display. Many women, and a few men, are veterans of Boas & Tiaras. Louise Evans was very ecstatic to return for her fourth time and have her favorite authors underneath the same roof signing her books. Even the newbies seemed to smooth right into the motion of all things Boas, dedicated readers like Danielle Conley spoke about how the event brings old friends together while creating an opportunity to meet new people, and you get to bring your own sense of style to the event.

The energy powered towards the authors was not just for books, food and Q&A’s. Many were there to give back to the local community. The proceeds from the raffle and a portion of the book sales will go to Plano Family Literacy Program. If there is anything this group of readers and authors know, it is the importance of literacy within our communities. Boas & Tiaras love bling, pink and giving back words and more.
