On Monday, June 10, the legendary country music star Charley Pride hosted the Sports & Entertainment Celebrity Golf Classic at Brookhaven Country Club. Proceeds from the event benefited the T.J. Martell Foundation, the music industry’s largest foundation that funds cutting-edge leukemia, cancer and AIDS research at 12 top research hospitals in the United States. In Texas, the Foundation supports the Physician-Scientist Program at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Pride has helped the foundation through the years in their quest for raising funds for research.
Guests enjoyed golfing on the Championship Course, followed by a pool side barbecue dinner and music by local artists Ray Johnston, Mark Collie, Neal McCoy, Ronnie Bowman, Janie Fricke, Hayes Carll and Bobby Cyrus. A live auction emceed by Robin Treadway of Manheim’s Auto Auction featured an Epiphone guitar autographed by Charley Pride, a VIP Experience to the County Music Awards in Nashville and the opportunity to host 19 guests at a Texas Rangers game in the private suite of majority owner Bill Simpson. Sponsors included CAA, SESAC, PerryHVAC, Ray Johnston Band, Skimpy Mixers, Beverly Drive, francisco+co and FluffPop.
