On Tuesday, June, 11, the Vince Camuto lifestyle brand celebrated its newly opened VC Signature flagship store on 61st and Madison Avenue with a cocktail party hosted by Vince Camuto and his agelessly beautiful wife Louise Camuto, former Miss Sweden, as well as supermodel Adriana Lima. In honor of the opening of the new store, Vince Camuto made a donation to New Yorkers For Children (NYFC), additionally including 20 percent of the proceeds from the event benefit.
Guests included fashion designer Tory Burch, supermodel Lindsay Ellingson, Marisa Brown, Susan Shin, Sandra Ripert, Jason Binn, Lara Meiland Shaw, Keith Pollock, Laura Eastwood, Ric Pipino and Jennifer Creel. Music was played by DJ Chelsea Leyland.
The collection includes shoes, handbags, apparel, jewelry, swim, eyewear, men’s and women’s watches, as well as exclusive jewelry and handcrafted sunglasses only available at the store. Prices range from $85 for the Baraka Bow Chic Sandal to $795 for the Sarah Satchel Carryall. Exotic materials are utilized in the collection, such as custom-crafted neon, blue suede and rare preserved snake specimens.
Aside from New Yorkers for Children, Vince Camuto also likes to contribute to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He said, “Anything having to do with children is closest to our hearts.”
When asked what he thinks the three wardrobe essentials are that every woman should have for the summer, he responded, “A pair of espadrilles, a fun flat and a nice pump with an ornament for extra style.” His plans for the summer include going to Italy next week and spending July in the Hamptons.
It was Adriana Lima’s birthday, so they brought out cupcakes with candles for her. Though she was not seen eating any, she was seemed pleasantly surprised. I had a chance to speak with her regarding the wonderful charitable work she has been doing which includes helping an orphanage, Caminhos da Luz, in Brazil, working with Donna Karen for Urban Zen, and going to Haiti to visit a hospital there which focuses on children and maternities.
New Yorkers For Children works with the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to improve the prospects of children supported by the child welfare system and to engage New Yorkers in that effort. NYFC focuses on young people in foster care and supports programs that promote paths to a stable adulthood for them through education and sustainable relationships.
