Make Dad’s Heart Melt With A Father’s Day Fondue

When it comes to Father’s Day, the way to Dad’s heart may be through his stomach, but there are alternatives to splurging on an expensive dinner or hosting the traditional cookout. Emmi Roth USA suggests having a relaxing get-together at home and incorporating the engaging, social meal of fondue. Whether dipping steak into a savory pot of melted cheese or dunking cookies into sweetly smooth chocolate, the share factor makes for a great family bonding experience worthy of dear old dad.

“Though fondue isn’t typically associated with Father’s Day, the social aspect is the perfect complement to a flavorful, tasty meal the whole family can enjoy,” said Guido Kaelin, vice president of marketing at Emmi Roth USA, Inc. “It gets everyone involved, and the ease of preparation puts the focus on quality time spent with each other, which is what this day is really about.”

Fondue combines the comfort of good company and good food with one simple dish. Emmi Original Fondue, made with authentic, high-quality Le Gruyère AOC and Emmentaler AOC cheeses from Switzerland, is part of the company’s line of ready-made, heat-and-serve fondue.

To make the meal more meaningful, choose some of Dad’s favorite foods and include them among the dipping accompaniments. Make it “manlier” by incorporating Dad’s favorite meats; try game day favorites like soft pretzels; or expand his horizons with more unusual fare like fruits and pickled vegetables to dip into cheese fondue. Round out the meal by selecting a beverage that will complement the complex flavor of the cheese. Beer and white wine are perfect pairings, so pick up Dad’s favorite brew or uncork his wine of choice to experience mouth-watering flavor combinations. Include the kids by coupling their meal with sparkling cider, apple juice or ginger ale to up the fun factor.

Appeal to Dad’s sweeter side with Emmi Swiss Chocolate Fondue for dessert. Pair with a host of yummy dippers, like cake, cookies, brownies, marshmallows and juicy fresh fruits for options that enhance the rich taste of the melted chocolate. It’s a decadent ending to the classic Swiss dish.

Emmi Roth USA provides a wide variety of fine Swiss-style cheeses great for use in recipes or on their own.  You can find them in the dairy or deli section at your local grocer and online at EmmiRothUSA.com/shop.
