Recap: ATX Television Festival: Opening Night Red Carpet And Arrested Development Screening

The ATX Television Festival Season Two premiered the only way an Austin festival knows how to: with a bang. And a pretty big one at that. As the Texas sun blazed down on the State Theatre, the anticipation built among the media has they waited for the stars.

The stars of television’s hottest shows, old and new, came out for the opening night of the festival. As the stars strolled down Congress, they were greeted by fans, stopped for pictures and made their way to the red carpet to the awaiting media. The celebrities were all smiles as they reminisced about previous roles, current ones and favorite television shows.

Revenge’s Nick Wechsler took a moment to chat with us about some of his favorite and most memorable moments on the show. After this last season’s big bomb drop (no pun intended), he reflected that many of these moments were ones that were integral to his character – those involving Amanda or Emily or Sammy.

Members of the Boy Meets World reunited for the festival, the first time that many of them had been together since the show wrapped. Among the cast were Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Matthew Lawrence, Betsy Randle, Lily Nicksay, Maitland Ward and Trina McGee. The whole cast was excited about the upcoming Girl Meets World show.

After the red carpet, festival-goers were ushered into the State Theatre, where they watched two episodes of the new season of Arrested Development, that was recently released on Netflix. Once the audience was done cheering and laughing through the two episodes, Alia Shawkat, Mae Whitman, Maeby Funke and Ann Veal, talked about what it was like going back to the show after the break and finishing up the show.

The ATX Television Festival kicked off to an amazing start. The weekend should definitely be an exciting one filled with cries, laughs and lots of nostalgia.
