On Saturday, June 8 at 7 p.m., the North Carolina Museum of Art will hold its 2013 Art of the Auction in its East Building. The event offers an evening of silent and live bidding as well as cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Guests will have the chance to bid on over 70 works by local artists as well as gift packages that represent the museum’s collection or upcoming exhibits. Raleigh artist Billie Mann, known for her vibrant, soulful animal portraits, is among the 76 artists chosen from hundreds of hopefuls. “I’m proud to be a part of a juried exhibition in the Museum, much less one that is specifically to help fund the Museum’s programs,” she says. The auction’s proceeds will help the Museum fund exhibitions and education. According to the Museum’s website, donations make up 70 percent of the funding for these programs. Tickets to the auction can be found here.
