On Saturday, June 8, New Orleans‘ 610 Stompers will hold their fourth annual Ball Crawl, themed “A Streetcar Named Da’Fire.” Sponsored by Budweiser, Walk-On’s (which was voted ESPN’s “#1 Sports Bar in America”), and a number of other generous businesses, proceeds will go to benefit Team Gleason. With a line-up of five Uptown bars, participants are encouraged to wear their best ’80s retro fashion, arriving ready to groove.
This year, the planned Ball Crawl stops include The Kingpin, Grit’s, Fat Harry’s, Le Bon Temps and Superior Seafood. Between venues, expect lots of spontaneous energy and fun, as members of the 610 Stompers teach some of their famed dance moves (as featured in the 2011 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade) and lead the always crowd-pleasing “SWAYZE!” screaming contest.
Team Gleason was founded by former Saints’ safety Steve Gleason, following his diagnosis with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Both he and the foundation are “deeply committed to helping people with ALS live productive, inspired lives by providing access to life-affirming events and assistive technology.”
Tickets can be purchased online, or at planned pre-registration events, taking place from 5:30-8:30 pm at Squeal (Wed., 6/5), Fat Harry’s (Thurs., 6/6), and Le Bon Temps (Fri., 6/7).
