Lupus—systemic lupus erythematosus (S.L.E.)—is a chronic and often disabling autoimmune disease. Lupus can affect various parts of the body such as joints, blood, kidneys and especially the skin. Over 1.5 million Americans, and millions worldwide, are living with lupus. The majority of people with lupus, 90 percent, are female. However, lupus is not a “woman’s disease,” men and children can also have lupus. On Tuesday, June 4, 2013 the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation will be hosting the 9th annual Night for the Fight Summer Kick-Off Party at the luxurious Hudson Terrace to raise money to fight lupus.
Throughout the evening guests will have access to an open bar and delicious hors d’oeuvres while DJ Sabri mixes music. Exciting raffles and auction prizes will be featured throughout the night as well. Also, the 9th annual Night for the Fight is sponsored by food and beverage companies: Frava, The Traveler Beer Company, Diageo and Sweet Funhouse. Invitations were designed Réal Thompson, and members of the young leadership of the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation will be present. PodPix will be present throughout the evening and guests can take pictures in the photo booth that will make lasting memories.
No one is sure of why lupus occurs, how to cure it, or how to prevent it. Dedicated researchers are working every day to try to help find a cure for those living with lupus. New treatments are emerging, however the search for the cure is never ending. Donations are always greatly appreciated to help fight the battle. Lupus is a serious disease that affects a vast amount of people, and comes with many complications. Sometimes symptoms of the disease come and go, causing the diagnosis to take years to be made! Lupus is an extremely serious illness, it is very prevalent in the United States. Join us on the evening of June 4 for the lively 9th annual Night for the Fight against lupus.
