Are you looking for an opportunity to support local Charleston artists and give back to the community? Then, take a walk across from Marion Square and check out Tea Time Treasures, a charity boutique only open during the Spoleto Festival USA.
Tea Time Treasures offers selections of artwork, crafts and other novelties created by folks in the low-country and is conveniently located in the Community Center of St. Matthew’s in downtown Charleston. Some of the items for sale include photographic images on ceramic tile, vintage seed beads and hand carved silhouettes – a unique variety that captures a wide range of styles. In addition to selling many Charleston treasures, the boutique also offers delicious homemade scones and cold tea in the afternoon.
When you purchase an item from the Tea Time Treasures boutique, you will be giving back to the local community, with all proceeds going to support the Community Center of St. Matthew’s.
The Community Center of St. Matthew’s is a non-profit organization that runs on contributions to help its charitable efforts. Some of the programs that the Center supports include: the Emergency Food Pantry, which provides food to over 500 low-income families each year; Christmas Care Bags, which distributes hundreds of bags filled with needed items to home-bound seniors in Charleston; and the Cinderella Project, which supplies donated formal dresses and accessories for girls who lack resources to buy prom wear.
Tea Time Treasures offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to contribute to these organizations and to local artists. If you want to shop stylishly, give to a charitable mission and enjoy delicious scones, tea and locally made crafts, this boutique is the place for you.
