The fifth annual Polo for the Planet will be held June 8 at Prestonwood Polo and Country Club. Produced by the Ladies Polo Auxiliary this is a fun, educational event with a mission to educate the community on recycling programs, sustainable living, energy efficient products, gardening and organic foods.
On the same day, a global conference on nutrition for growth sponsored by the UK and Brazil will be held to fund a trilateral initiative to fight malnutrition in the poorest parts of the world. Malnutrition kills 2.5 million children under the age of five each year. In recognition of this global crisis and the many hungry that we have right here in North Texas, non-perishable food items will be collected for the North Texas Food Bank. For more ways to help serve the internationally hungry, visit Heifer International. To help feed the locally hungry, please bring a bag of non-perishable food items that will be delivered to the North Texas Food Bank or share the wealth and donate on-line.
Pack a picnic lunch (adult libations OK) and bring the family for an action-packed day in the country. You won’t want to miss Polo for the Planet, an eco-themed event that combines environmental awareness and the excitement of polo, the “Sport of Kings.” Shop Green Pavilion vendors such as In A Pickle Foods, Dallas Soap Company, Simply Livly, Joanne Taylor Jewelry, the Dread Head Chef and more. Attendees will get to sample Veev Acai Spirits by enjoying a complimentary Veev Champagne Cocktail during the traditional Divot Stomp. Grandstand seating is open on a first come, first seated basis. Let the kids enjoy the crowd favorite bounce house. Leashed dogs are welcome.
