Recap: Girls Gone Glam To Benefit Dress For Success Seattle

This was the first year that I attended the Girls Gone Glam event at the Alexis Hotel.  The event is now in its sixth year and benefits Dress for Success Seattle.  It was a fun evening to shop Seattle designers and boutiques, try some spa services and sip some local wine – all while helping to support a great cause.  Many people I spoke with make it an annual girl’s night out and I could see why.

Dress for Success:  The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive at work and in life.  Dress for Success Seattle is locally managed by the YWCA Seattle.  I spoke with Richelle Harrell, Program Manager of Clothing Services, and she invited people to come and check out Dress for Success Seattle’s 5th Avenue Boutique.

We got to taste delicious O Wines which taste good and do good by providing college scholarships to women. Since 2008, O Wines (the “O” stands for “opportunity”) has granted more than $125,000 in scholarships awards of $500 or more.  Founder Stacy Lill was sharing tastes of the Chardonnay and Red, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvingnon and Syrah whose grapes are all sourced from the Columbia Valley.

There were many local designers and boutiques on hand to help find the perfect outfit or new piece of jewelry.  I loved looking at Jaleh’s clothing line.  Their pieces featured playful details on the back of both blouse and jacket designs.

The Alexis Hotel was a festive setting for the evening and provided many getaways to some of their sister properties in Portland, San Francisco, New York and more.  The room was packed with people holding reams of raffle tickets.  There were quite a few chances to win prizes and people got very excited when finding out they were a winner.
