Miss A Columnist

Kelly Fay is the Nashville Editor for Miss A. She is a firm believer that life wouldn’t be as enjoyable without a steaming fresh cup of coffee early in the morning, sipped from a beautifully detailed-painted mug. She values the small but beautiful things in life. She adores travel, even if it is to the local coffee shop; She lives for laughter with a friend, even if it is at my expense; and she loves a challenge, even if she doesn't come out a winner. She grew up and lived in beautiful sunny California where her love for the outdoors was sparked at an early age. Following her desire to be surrounded by beauty, she relocated to Humboldt County to attend Humboldt State University on a basketball scholarship. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Humboldt State in Kinesiology with an emphasis in teaching/coaching. Led by her inner-gypsy, upon graduation she traveled and lived in many different places. She called the Alaskan darkness home during the winter of ‘08, experienced” tea time” and” the tube” while living in London, and resided in the sandy dunes of Newport Beach, California for nearly two years. She moved to Nashville to experience the simplicity of the South while still engaging in city life. She spends her weekdays teaching preschool and personal training while she spends her weekends being active, exploring new places and eating good foods. She is an adventurous and spontaneous girl who enjoys a good time but also wants to make a difference in this crazy world!

The proceeds from the event will serve to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is “to feed hungry people and work to solve hunger issues in our community.” Since opening their doors in the late 70’s Second Harvest has consistently made a positive impact through their hard work and huge hearts. As one of the largest food distributors nationwide, in 2011-2012 their efforts made a tremendous impact by supplying over 16 million meals to children, adults and senior citizens suffering from hunger in 46 counties throughout Middle and West Tennessee. However, the need for support to feed the hungry is stronger than ever. USDA reported that nearly 14 million children residing in the United States are food insecure; and  perhaps hitting even closer to home, additional reports stated in Tennessee one in every four children are considered food insecure. If you think these statistics are devastating, you are not alone. Over the last eight years numerous stars have participated in this event to help raise $511,032 for children, families and seniors in Tennessee suffering from hunger.
