Miss A Columnist

Rochelle Robinson grew up in the Pacific Northwest immersed in the performance, musical, and fine arts, as well as athletics – from skiing in the water to skiing in the sleet and snow, to cycling around the velodrome. While studying fine art and the musical genre of jazz at the University of Washington she put both her passion for and experience in the arts into helping to create the Washington State Academic Achievement Standards for the Arts by serving on both the Arts and Standards Revision committees. She later completed a Master of Arts in Teaching at The University of Puget Sound and Master of Arts in Liberal Arts at St. John's College Graduate Institute. As an aspiring artist, as well as an educator, she is still intrigued by the creative process and what ensues as a result. Currently, she is developing a poetry blog called A Writer's Space and has co-written both a children's picture book and pilot for a children's TV show. Rochelle also works as an elementary school librarian and advanced reading teacher for a small private school in the valley. She is in the midst of developing a new business named Watercolor Weddings by Rochelle and is developing a series of paintings and conceptual artworks, the first of which is currently on display at Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood. She hopes to inspire Miss A readers to explore, experience and get involved, as she sets out to bring a touch of the literary, fine and performing arts that are happening here in Los Angeles to our readers.

With flutes of tiny bubbles in hand, a multitude of women spent this past Friday and Saturday afternoon indulging in a series of spa services at Le Posh Salon and oohing and ahhing over lovely lingerie by Naked Princess. The two-day sample sale was a collaborative effort between these two fabulous companies in honor of Mother’s Day.

The elegance, attention to design detail, ease of comfort, and ultimate beauty that both companies exude make them a sheer match. In fact, I secretly hope they’ll soon place a permanent Naked Princess boutique in Le Posh Salon. Indulging in their French lace, silk, cashmere and modal lingerie is a perfect finale to a host of spa and salon services and packages. Once feeling pampered, relaxed and beautified, who wouldn’t want to pick up a nice little silky piece to slip into?

The materials and colors of Naked Princess lingerie are ultra soft and feminine. The lovely Deanna Fuller, national sales manager for Naked Princess, revealed to me that the vision for their lines are drawn on CEO/Owner Jordana Woodland’s adoration of Parisian boudoir sensibility and antique perfume bottles. The ladies often travel to France to seek materials and inspiration. Last July they even made their European premiere at the annual Mode City Paris Salon International du Swimwear & de la Lingerie. Sumptuous lotions, powders, soaps and other beauty products are also offered to Naked Princess clientele and always wrapped in layers of pretty tissue and ribbons. Whether you partake in their sumptuous lingerie or beauty products, the presentation will always be as lovely as the content of your package, be it a gift to a special someone or even to yourself.

Sitting at the foot of the Hollywood Hills on Sunset Boulevard, Le Posh Salon offers an environment with an open feel with a subtle approach to design. From the line of birch tree trunks, Turkish tiled flooring, sleek textual reception desk, stream-lined lounge area and elegant and natural lighting, it’s evident that a detailed and worldly eye created the space.

The attention to detail and ambiance of ease is mirrored by the services and artisans. My manicure by Jenny was very enjoyable. She was super gentle with my hands and took time to shape, clean and polish each nail. Plus, she is a warm, genuine and interesting person. Getting my hair done was also a great experience. My curly hair is not the easiest to work with, but during my consultation while getting my hair washed, I felt confident to let Emily use her own creative vision. She was also gentle, caring and efficient. And my hair became silky, smooth and swinging under her touch.

I could have spent all day at La Posh Salon and can’t wait to sample more of their spa and salon services. It would be a great place to go with your girlfriends or mom any day. Naked Princess is an indulgence I will not ever part with. Their new lingerie line is coming out soon. And, I can’t wait. Each piece displayed at their sample sale was special and unique. The cuts, the stitching, the combination of materials were simply beautiful! Somehow everything I tried on I fell in love with. I’m sure you too will fall in love with both Naked Princess and Le Posh Salon.
