Flowing champagne, gorgeous models and designer jewelry all played a part in kicking off Austin Fashion Week 2013. Estilo, in the 2nd Street District, hosted this party that featured local jewelry designer Allison Taylor-Moseley and spring looks from Rare Trends.
The crowd was buzzing at the adorable boutique. Checking out the Taylor-Moseley Jewelry, sifting through pieces from Rare Trends, and chatting it up with other guests. The event was the perfect way to kick-off AFW.
The team at Estilo is no stranger to Austin Fashion Week, having won the coveted “Golden Boot” several years in a row at the awards show that usually closes out fashion week.
Taylor-Moseley had some amazing pieces, especially ones that you can personalize, with initials, coordinates and names. She is also a personal stylist. In her own words, her goal is to “bring women an effortless signature style so they can look and feel confident in a wardrobe that flatters their body shape, meets their lifestyle demands, stays within their budget, and suits their personality!”
The CW Star’s Taylor Ellison took a few moments to interview the duo behind Rare Trends, Paola Moore and Marina Silver. Ellison looked amazing in a metallic blue biker jacket over a black fringe dress, both by Rare Trends.
Rare Trends is a wonderful Austin company that firmly believes that “women shouldn’t simply wear clothes, women should wear art.” With this belief they created clothes made of natural materials that are very contemporary and very architectural. Moore notes that the clothing from Rare Trends is made for women who want to lead, not for women that want to follow.
Austin Fashion Week’s Matt Swinney made an appearance at the party and took a moment to reflect on the evolution of Austin Fashion Week through the last five years. He recalled how it started out as little retail events, mainly trunk shows, with just one runway show, and now there will be almost 30 this year.
If the Estilo event is any indication of how the rest of the week will play out, be prepared Austin. Prepare yourself for fashionable people, amazing clothing and some of the most talented designers from Austin and around the world.
