This past Thursday I got invited to experience Frolik Kitchen and Cocktails pre-opening event to try hand-crafted cocktails, an assortment of food items off their menu, and a chance to chat it up with other writers and socialites in Seattle.
I was assuming this event would be small, simple and more of an intimate setting, but I was wrong! I walked in and was instantly greeted by friendly staffers, then escorted to Frolik and immediately offered a coat check, glass of wine and yummy bite-sized goodies to nibble on. I will admit that I originally thought it would be a basic bar, but I can truthfully say that you can start spotting my girlfriends and I there regularly!
The back of the bar was lit up in beautiful blue lighting, making you instantly gravitate to the bar, which leads you to ordering a Pink Precipitation (smart move Frolik). This cocktail reminded me of a margarita, but with a fresh, lighter twist. You don’t feel as crowded around this bar as you’d usually feel in other Seattle hot spots, which was refreshing.
Once I had my drink in tow, I explored the space. To the left of the bar there were four large flat screens and comfortable couches for gathering. It was spacious enough to play Kinect games without poking someone’s eye out. Then, around the corner was the dining area that had a great variety of seating arrangements to make everyone feel comfortably accommodated. If you walk past that area, you’ll run right into the coffee bar (yes, it opens early enough to have coffee and breakfast too!), with great espresso options.
Once you’re done admiring the inside, it’s time to head outside. Frolik has a phenomenal outdoor area complete with multiple fire pits, more seating, games and one of the coolest views of the city. I bet you on a Friday evening with a warm sunset, a cool drink, delicious food and great company, this will be your new place to gather the crew!
When you go there, I recommend the bacon wrapped dates or the chipotle chicken sliders. As far as yummy cocktails goes, I recommend the Pink Precipitation and the Springtime Sidecar. I was even daring enough to try the oysters, which I normally cringe at a little, and they were scrumptious!
