8th Annual People To Know 2013 Benefit In Denver

As quoted by Chanda Hinton, Founder of The Chanda Plan Foundation, “when you are in good health, fulfilling the things you are passionate about seems limitless.” A truth that we can all relate, The Chanda Plan Foundation provides the option of alternative treatment for people experiencing health problems created by their disabilities.

On April 18th, The Chanda Plan Foundation invites you to attend their 8th Annual People to Know Benefit to help continue the goals of the foundation. A night of silent and live auction, dinner buffet and cash bar, patrons will have the opportunity to listen to keynote speaker Coach Karl, head coach of the Denver Nuggets, who is an advocate of integrative therapies due to the benefits he experienced during his journey with throat cancer.

Generally speaking, we turn to hospital treatments and pills for medical attention when we are ill. However, as our society, especially Denver, has a better understanding on the effects of natural remedies and therapies, many of us have adapted to these options in hopes of becoming better.

With a demand in alternative treatment, several insurance companies have started to cover treatments such as acupuncture  emotional and physical therapy, massage and many more. Unfortunately, people with disabilities did not have the option of having alternative medicine covered in their insurance if they decided to use such treatments until the creation of The Chanda Plan Foundation.

Chanda personally experienced the highs and lows of health issues. She suffered from a spinal chord injury that had compromised her health where her weight dropped to 59 pounds, suffered chronic pain and her immune system had depleted. After several visits for the emergency room and doctors, Chanda took a look at alternative healing treatments. She took on acupuncture, massage therapy, diet and physical therapy which miraculously helped her gain 20lbs and become almost pain free.

Over the years, the non-profit foundation has changed the health policy to include integrative health care and helped numerous people with disabilities by educating them about integrative treatments and improve the access of such treatments.
